Putrajaya

Putrajaya is a "smart" city built in 1999 and is now the seat of government, not Kuala Lumpur which had become congested and over-crowded.  KL is still the capital city however. The Courts of Justice are here and the Prime Minister's Office.

This is the Courts of Justice which features a few different styles of architecture to take in the diverse cultures.  Our guide was very proud of this city but after Singapore we found it quite grubby.  I also got the impression that he didn't really like the British and even the Aussies on our tour were tarred with "being British"!

Our coach was a riot and wouldn't want to be suffering from a hang-over on it.

The following are a few shots from the lake cruise.

The spectacular Pink Mosque

Housing for the workers can be seen along the lake and go for approximately 4,000,000 MYR which is roughly £725,000.00 so I imagine the salaries here must be pretty good.

Since independence in 1957 Malaysia has had a king.  The king is changed every 5 years unless he dies in the meantime.  He is taken from one of the nine Sultantates in turn.  There is no female line of succession.

  1. I see what you mean about the coach ... the colours are a bit lairy!

Your first photo (the Istana) made me do a double take ... the guy in the bottom right corner could be David (I think he has that shirt) ... Suex
